APRIL FOOLS!!!

I tricked you all, I knew how to do it all along.... I am not computerly challenged! Ok, just kidding, it took me a good 3 hours to figure it out- but I triumphed after wasting half my day and now it is fall fun all the way!

On a different note, lets talk poop, my friends. Literally. We have been trying to stock up on diapers and wipes for our little bundle o' joy to try to spread out the impending colossal cost of raising a child. Thanks for the advice Whitney.

However, each time we go to the store we (actually just me- Jared doesn't care) face the same dilemma. How do I know which brand of diaper to buy?

Do I go Pampers, because I have heard they are the best (especially the Swaddler variety) despite the fact that they are EXPENSIVE??? Or do I go with the cheap brand, and hope for the best?

I know, I know- every kid is different. Some diapers go better with a certain shaped baby (though I don't really get that, I haven't ever seen a baby and thought, "Holy moly, how did they find a diaper to fit that body". To me, they all look like basically the same shape-different sizes, sure, but different shape? WHOA, huge tangent, let me get back to my point)

I know some kids have explosive...well you know what I mean- and others are generally more dainty when it comes to...you know. I really need to get more comfortable with the fact that my precious daughter is going to poop, so I don't need to refer to it as "you know".

Basically, I get the whole trial and error with figuring out which diaper works best.

That being said, I am still trying to stock up on diapers, so understanding that concept is no help here. So I am creating a poll. Please vote! What kind of diaper do you use on your wee one (pun definitely intended)?

Also, if you feel the need to clarify anything, feel MORE than welcome to leave a comment explaining your vote. But in the interest of my SANITY (as well as Jared's... he has to sit there in the diaper aisle with me for like 20 minutes while I weigh my options every time we go to the store), PLEASE VOTE!!!!!

I can promise you your participation is MUCH appreciated!

You are so funny Lindsey! Just the title of your post cracked me up. I'll just tell you what I did. I started with Pampers because I wanted EVERYTHING to be the BEST for my baby. Well, once you start buying the best of everything your bank account really starts to hurt! So at about 2 months I switched to Luvs. Cheaper and still work great. And about "You Know"... Ellie only "you know"'s once a week, so you can imagine how much "you know" is in her daiper! I've only had it come out of her diaper one time using Luvs, and it was a tiny bit. They hold it all pretty good. Oh, and Pampers are great, but you can feel wet-ness on the outside of the diaper when it's wet. It's wierd. I only noticed it after I switched to another brand.

You are so great! I know I don't exactly have a kid of my own but I sure do change a lot of diapers everyday! I think I do it more than the parents do. Anyway I have always just used Target brand and I only have a problem when the diaper gets way too full. (like in the morning)So my advice is use the GOOD ones at night when it will be a longer time between changes. Other wise I think the store or cheap ones are just fine.

Okay, for a newborn I DEFINATELY sugges the Pampers Swaddlers! I LOVED them!!! I am a huge pampers fan all around. And I've used them up until this last time I bought diapers (only for the sake of trying to be more frugal). This last time I bought Luvs and I really like them.I haven't had any problems with them I did try Huggies once and didn't like them - Kason leaked almost everytime. And I HATE walmart brand - don't ever buy them - even for the sake of saving money. they are a huge waste of money. that's my two cents!!

After having five kids, I think we are considered experts! Huggies get my vote. I've tried all the others and think they are the best. Pampers is a close 2nd, but the Luvs and non-name brands stink!

oh ya, I was going to say ... Luvs are actually the cheap version of Pampers - I think that's why they're a close 2nd in my book!

You are a crack up. I have never seen so much written about diapers and poop before. but to add my two cents I like pampers for the first 2-3 months because that is when the explosions can happen and then after that go to the generics. I found that the generic diapers don't work the first few months. Also when you have a baby shower if you say that you are having a diaper raffle and that there will be a prize for those who bring a bag of diapers is how you get a ton of diapers. Good luck gal I miss you a ton. Love your guts

Our Story: Continued said...

In the beginning, we used Huggies...after about 6 months, we switched to generic, however Connor needs a brand name diaper for night time because the kid can PEE!!! It's either Huggies at night or wet sheets in the morning.

I would have put an answer in for the poll but I have to justify. We used Pampers swaddlers when she was young and loved them. As she grew older and the poop situation kinda mellowed out we totally switched to the Parents Choice from walmart and haven't had a single problem AND they are SO much cheaper. As you're stocking up I think that we have used size 3 the longest, so get a few extra of those. YAY for you and your family!!!

I love the walmart diapers. They have been the best and the cheapest for me. I tried huggies, pampers and for my baby's bum, the walmart brand just seemed to work. They are in the big yellow packages. If you need the name, just let me know :) Also, a close second is pampers. It think they are second best.

I love how you haven't asked me in person :) or I guess I should say :(

BOTH of my kids started out with pampers swaddlers. UNTIL they grew out of NEWBORN size. They work wonders!

After that Isaac went to huggies, because he's a boy and it could hold in the spraying pee!

Ainsley uses luvs. They are cheap, and she's a girl, and it does the job!

Here is my advice on Diapers...you can try the cheap kind and see how they are. Or just go ahead and get the good kind and know you wont have problems. Grant leaked through all the diapers EXCEPT huggies and pampers. I wasted well had to give away to packs of cheap diapers casue they didnt work

I love Pampers. I think if you shop at stop and shop or shoprite you should get a coupon from the store, Well I do anyways. The coupon is sometimes 1$ but mostly 1.50$ off, great price.

Don't stock up on newborn diapers because they are really small and only should last you two weeks. Stock up on size 1-3.

I think this one is all about trial and error. We have used every diaper out there on Parker. We usually use Pamper or Huggies at night becuase we have had problems with wetting the bed, but I do use walmarts and Targets brands. They work for Parker, but for some kids they don't. Go on the Huggies and Pampers websites and sign up for their mailings. We have gotten quite a few coupons through them, which is all the better.

Okay, so here is my Opinion on the diaper thing...Pampers swaddlers when they are tiny, love them!! I switched to Huggies at around size 1 or 2 and like them way better as the kid gets bigger! I have had a total of two leaks in Mauras two years of life, thats not bad if I do say so myself! Anyway, and wipes...I used to only do pampers sensitive but I figured out the Target brand sensitive works just as awesome and they are cheaper!! good luck!

Kirkland brand from Costco all the way!!! My girls have both used those since they were little and we NEVER have any problems with them!

My girls always leaked out of the Huggies diapers.

So are you more confused than ever after reading all of those diaper suggestions? I think it's just one of those things where only you can decide after trying different kinds.

Get ready for a long comment! Headbands: For a newborn you will want to buy baby tights that are at least 6-9 month size. Or you can just be safe and buy 12 month. One pair of tights will make 2 headbands. First cut off the foot of the tight and then make another cut at the crotch... your cuts will be paralel to eachother. That's all the cutting that you do. Now you just put the cut ends together (overlap them a little bit) to make a circle. Sew the ends together... I just hand stitch it. After you sew it, pull the thread tight so that it bunches up the tights. Then I usually wrap the thread around the sewn part a few times so that it's really bunched up. Does that make sense? After you do that, just hot glue a snap over the sewn/bunched up part. Add the other side of the snap to your flower and you're done. I buy my flowers at the scrapbook store. Just dont' buy the paper flowers because they get ruined too easily. You can also add buttons, gems, or brads to the middle of the flower.

If any of that was confusing let me know and I'll try to clarify.

Hello hello!!! How are you?! You are the cutest pregnant girl ever! Congrats! You are so close to being done! So soon you are going to get to hold your little angel! Yeah for you! How exciting for you. I am so happy that you found my blog!

WOW! After reading all the comment on diapers. I am more confused then ever. I think that I will try them all. I liked the idea of doing the diaper raffel, I had it at my shower and we have tons of different kinds so I'll be able to try 'em all. I suggests doing that. I don't know from experience, but I have been told cheap diapers at home and more durable, expensive kind at church and when you are out-in-about. My mother-in-law says no matter what your going to have poop messes. Goog luck to the both of us.

We did pampers for a while, but just when Brody was in the newborn size. I loved those swaddlers. I have now tried huggies and luvs and find them just as good. As for like the store brand, I dislike them. Maybe there are good ones out there, but I haven't found one yet.

I have no kids of my own, but I have a few years of childcare experience. After changing 15-20 kids diapers 4-5 times a day I have my favorite. Pampers is my number one pick, with Huggies wipes. The store brand diapers are really terrible because once wet they instantly begin to bead - the insides that hold the liquid seep out and form, beads or maybe they are beads and they just come out. But anyhow very undesirable. You will find which you like best though, everyone has their own favorite.
